The many-sided artist Dontana is a songwriter, guitarist, singer, percussionist and composer
from the african south-western country Angola. In his early childhood he learned the traditional
rhythms of africa. At the age of 10 years he joined a choir of his local church to improve his voice
and his percussion skills. Over the years Dontana learned to play guitar and other instruments.
The musical all-rounder created his own style of music, which is a mix of traditional african,
modern
and south-amercian elements. Dontana sings in Kikongo, Portugese and other languages.
His self-composed songs and lyrics tell about everyday life, especially about the socio-cultural
situation in his african homeland Angola. His new CD “Anafrica” (children of Africa) was released
in fall 2011. The topics are peace, justice, love and faith in the world.

Der vielseitige Songwriter, Gitarrist, Sänger, Percussionist und Komponist Dontana stammt aus
Angola. Von Kind an erlernte er die traditionellen afrikanischen Rhythmen. Bereits mit zehn
Jahren begann er, in seinem afrikanischen Heimatland in einem Kirchenchor zu trommeln und zu
singen. Im Laufe der Jahre erlernte Dontana Gitarre und verschiedene weitere Musikinstrumente
zu spielen. Das Allroundtalent Dontana entwickelte seinen eigenen Musikstil – eine Mischung
aus traditionellen afrikanischen, modernen und südamerikanischen Elementen. Er singt in seiner
Muttersprache Kikongo, aber auch auf Portugiesisch und in anderen Sprachen. Seine selbst komponierten
Lieder und Texte handeln vom täglichen Leben, insbesondere von der soziokulturellen
Situation in seinem afrikanischen Heimatland Angola. Auf seiner neuen CD „Anafrica“ (Kinder
Afrikas), die im Herbst 2011 erschienen ist, geht es um Frieden, Gerechtigkeit, Liebe und Glauben
in der Welt.

Dontana é um compositor versátil, guitarrista, vocalista percussionista vem de Angola. Desde a
infância, ele aprendeu ritmos tradicional africano. Já na idade de dez anos, ele começou a cantar
e tocar batuque num coral da igreja no seu país de origem. Durante anos Dontana aprendeu de
tocar guitarra e vários outros instrumentos musicais. O polivalente Dontana desenvolveu o seu
próprio estilo de música, uma mistura de tradicional africano, moderno e elementos sul-americanos.
Ele canta em sua língua materna kikongo, mas também em Português e outras linguas. Suas
letras e músicas contam sobre a vida cotidiana, especialmente a situação sócio-cultural na sua
terra natal Angola. O seu novo CD „Anafrica“ (Children of Africa), foi lançado no outono de 2011,
se trata de paz, justiça, amor e fé no mundo.
